Rest with Ray Nelson at 8 o’clock In The Morning
Yes, another rest day with absolutely nothing to do but JUST chill out or read and listen to Ray Nelson’s classic short story that inspired the cult movie “They Live.”
A one-time collaborator* of PKDick, Ray Nelson was a cartoonist and writer of the above titled 1963 short story. The central character, a homeless drifter called Nada* awakes from hypnosis and sees reality in all its naked glory: Revelation, earth ruled by yellow-eyed, reptilian-like alien invaders, brainwashing, paranoia, mind control, gruesome murders, government corruption.
Nelson sure packed a lot into 5 pages.
Click here to read and listen to the first 3 minutes.
* He co-wrote the novel entitled ‘The Ganymede Takeover.’
* In Spanish: Nothing
* The basis of the 1988 film They Live
